Still roughing it

We had a good night's sleep and spent most of the day out of the heat driving across Utah. We decided to go ahead and camp, and we are currently just northwest of Bryce Canyon National Park. I think we are going to Zion tomorrow, then to Bryce Canyon on Saturday. Electricity and internet are not exactly plentiful at our campground, but we are so dedicated that we drove into town to pick up a signal just to blog. Yes, we are that dedicated. As a sidenote, Robbie and I had a conversation where we discussed what day of the week it was. We determined that it was Wednesday, and we were shocked to find out that it was Thursday. I guess that means you're having a pretty good vacation when days, times, and locations don't really matter too much anymore.

We drove out of Moab and hit Capitol Reef National Park along the way. It was very pretty, and there were quite a few historical buildings in the park. It was an old Mormon settlement called Fruita due to the large number of fruit trees planted in the area. The settlers soon realized that it was pretty awful living in the middle of nowhere, so the settlement moved on. The fruit trees, however, have continued to flourish. Most times of the year, they allow visitors to pick and eat as much fruit as they want; on our visit, apricots were ripe so we had a chance to eat a bunch of them right off the tree.

Our campsite for the next couple of days. Lots of red rocks, and we're starting to see some trees! We didn't realize how much we have missed trees over the past few days until we finally started seeing them again.

We are at a pretty high elevation, so tonight we may actually need to use our sleeping bags! Most of our campsites have been relatively stuffy/warm up to this point, so we're excited for some cooler evenings.
