We are officially on the road. We are currently sitting in a McDonald's parking lot about 30 miles outside of Tallahassee (well...it's one of those McDonald's/Gas Station combos). Our car is ridiculously full..we are pretty cozy in the front seat, but the back seat and trunk are absolutely loaded with all of our basic needs - food, clothing, and shelter, actually. We have already experienced our first shady gas station bathroom, Jen's first nap (42 miles into the trip), and our first sighting of a man with a camo hat and a deer on his shirt. Northern Florida looks a lot like the rest of Florida. We have had a tearful goodbye to Jen's radio station,107.3, and to Publix. We had our last Publix sandwich (AKA Pubway..thanks Nick & Catherine for the Publix gift cards!), our last Publix yogurt, and our last Publix ice cream (thanks to Hailey & Sarah).
We had a pretty homeless night last night, with pictures to come later. It could have been our most pathetic sleeping situation to date (we used a blanket "taco" because we only had one left), and we had some pretty homeless behaviors (such as removing a bottle of lotion from our garbage and using it).
Anyway, onward to Pensacola and some awesome homemade pizza courtesy of Austin and Rachel.
I can't believe this is actually happening!

Dear Homeless Friends,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting past the relocube phase--hopefully that is the most frustrating thing you have to deal with in the next 30 days. Although, we really enjoy hearing you guys tell good stories about being frustrated with things, so maybe we're hoping a little bit that you will come across some more challenges in your adventures. But, only if they have happy endings of course. To safe travels, regular human-sized pillows, and happy endings!
Publix forever,
The Pucketts
We still miss Publix. We did find a Target today, which was a first in about 4-5 days. Love it.
